Our Emerald Wedding Anniversary

The 9th May 1964 will forever be remembered as the happiest day of my life.

The bedrock of our longevity is that together we have always sought to do the Will of God.

We take no pride on perceived achievement but place this story on the record to encourage and give hope to others.

Together we have trod the world stage for over 55 years.

We have enjoyed the extraordinary pleasures of married life and experienced the spiritual satisfaction of serving God full time as Christian Missionaries and Ministers of the Gospel .

Lest you think it has been all bells and whistles and free from anxiety, we have traversed the road of pleasure & pain sprinkled with grief, sadness, death and divorce!

Speaking for myself, at times I have walked the road of deep emotional sadness (clinical depression).

Disappointment in ministry, feeling profoundly let down by a ‘colleague in arms’ which precipitated a crisis of faith in a movement I have served all my life.

Feelings of personal failure as a husband & father added to the survival challenge!

Yet on the other hand I have had the privilege of preaching the Gospel to the remote areas of the earth.

Travelled the world and visited 6 continents, meeting some incredible people along the way.

One unexpected joy was to see a fully functioning Primary School which I pioneered & founded at Bambera near Maprik, in the East Sepik province of Papua New Guinea.

Today it is a part of the Assemblies of God School network.

The best years of my life were given to pioneer and establish many indigenous churches in Papua New Guinea.

Later Pastoring some great churches in Australia was also an enormous privilege.

We witnessed a visitation of the Holy Spirit in revival meetings in PNG & Australia.

We were blessed with 5 children who have given us 12 grandchildren to love and pray for.

To top it off, I have enjoyed the sacred privilege of leading some large congregations and conferences in Praise & Worship!

As they say “It’s as good as it gets”! God has been faithful and we have experienced the incredible excitement of knowing the presence of God and witnessing spiritual revival and the joy of forgiveness.

Throughout our journey our Heavenly Father has been faithful to His Word and we have found grace to survive the storms and thank Him for the journey He gave to us to explore together.

Life is better in the end when Jesus is the centre of it all.
